Lempira is the name of the region in Western Honduras where this beautiful coffee is grown. Lempira translates directly to “Lord of the Mountains”. It is also the name of the Honduran currency. Clearly this name holds deep symbolic value. We think it is apt.
Maria Victoria and her son Marco Tulio pick and prepare this coffee together with a group of farmers in and around the city of Gracias in Lempira. Coffee in their area is shade grown beneath a canopy of cypress and pine. Maria Victoria has a lifetime of coffee cultivation behind her. Marco Tulio grew up farming coffee with her and is now an Agricultural Engineer. Their combined strengths show in this coffee. We drink and celebrate the fruits of their labor, their sensitivity and their expertise.
